REEEP participated in the Power and Energy Week 2018 organised by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Government of Bangladesh. The slogan for this year’s event was ‘Anirban Agami’ or ‘Indomitable Future’ – indicating Bangladesh’s journey towards energy sustainability. As a part of the overall event, from 6-8th September, an exhibition of power and energy related goods and services was organized. REEEP participated in the exhibition together with its Government counterpart, Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA).
The stall was shaped as a colourful solar powered boat and attracted the attention of the visitors. REEEP’s booth featured prototypes of several innovative clean energy technologies, including the Retained Heat Cooker (RHC), solar lanterns, models of solar powered drinking water pumps and improved rice parboiling systems. Over a thousand visitors were briefed on the REEEP programme activities and received relevant brochures.
There was strong interest on energy saving appliances that can be used in households, such as the RHC and solar lanterns, and many visitors collected information of service providers for future purchase. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh formally inaugurated the event on 6th September at International Convention City, Bashundhara, and personally visited all the stalls, including REEEP’s.
